Apple Intelligence
This is a whole new world of AI features powered by the A18 chip. It includes advanced writing tools, a more natural and helpful Siri that can draw on personal context from your apps, and the ability to generate images and emojis. The system is designed with a strong focus on privacy, with most processing happening directly on the phone.
Dedicated Camera Control Button
A new physical button on the side of the phone gives users a dedicated, tactile way to interact with the camera. It can be used to launch the camera, focus, and capture photos or videos with a single press, and is also pressure-sensitive for more precise control over zoom and other settings.
Upgraded Camera System
The standard iPhone 16 models now feature a new vertical rear camera layout and a 48MP "Fusion" Main camera. This allows for improved low-light performance, 2x optical-quality zoom, and the ability to capture "spatial" photos and videos that can be viewed in 3D on Apple Vision Pro.
A18 Chip
The new A18 chip provides a significant leap in performance and efficiency. Its Neural Engine is specifically designed to handle the demands of on-device AI, and the improved CPU and GPU cores offer a noticeable boost in overall speed, especially for demanding apps and games.
Action Button on All Models
The customisable Action Button, which was previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, is now on all iPhone 16 models. This allows users to assign the button to various functions, such as launching the camera, turning on the flashlight, or running a custom Shortcut, making common tasks quicker and easier.
