The Note 9 featured Intelligent Scan, which seamlessly combined the Iris Scanner (more secure, less reliable in bright light) with Facial Recognition (faster, more reliable in bright light) to provide quick and convenient unlocking in almost any environment (low light or bright light).
Heart Rate and SpO2 Sensors
Like the S9, the Note 9 featured dedicated Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) and SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation) sensors next to the camera flash, integrated with the Samsung Health app.

It was the first Note to include stereo speakers tuned by AKG and supporting Dolby Atmos, significantly boosting the audio experience for media consumption.
Bluetooth S Pen Remote
The stylus was upgraded to include Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity for the first time. This allowed the pen's button to be used as a remote control for the camera shutter, presentations, and media playback.
